Winter Solstice, commonly known as "Winter Festival", is a very important Lunar Solar Terms, also a traditional festival of China. Winter Solstice Festival is begin at the Han Dynasty, prosperous at Tang Dynasty, pass down till now. Winter Solstice Day, is the shortest day and longest night in North Hemisphere.The ancients considered spring will be near, although still in the cold season.

Winter Solstice has the affluent food culture, such as dumplings, wonton, glutinous rice balls,etc. People used to eat dumplings in most places. There are many folk legends about the Winter Solstice and dumplings, such as your ears will not be frozen if you eat dumplings on that day.

Today is the Winter Solstice. At noon, in order to increase the festive atmosphere ,our company organize all the staffs to celebrate by making dumplings ourselves. At the same time,it’s also a competition, to see who make the fastest and the best dumpling.A department as a unit, after received the materials, someone mix the flour, someone roll the dumpling wrapper, someone make the dumpling. Busy but happy.

Some experienced staffs are good at making dumpling while the others are not so professional but concentrated. The all procedure is a important reason why it becomes a traditional food in China. Self－made dumpling might not be so delicious but it united everyone. The friendship among the staff was strenghened and they also enjoyed a pleasant meal. Moreover we got to understand the meaning of overcoming difficulty, overcoming ourselves, uniting and striving.

Dumpling is well－done. It tasted especially delicious because we made it by ourselves. Not only the body felt warm but also the heart are full of warmth. The enjoyable Winter Solstice is decorated by the wonderful taste along with happiness and auspiciousness. It indicated that we will have a prosperous year 2011!
